Week 7:
Week 7 has been an extremely difficult week. The school week was shortened and we only had 3 days of school, which threw me off completely. I thought I had more time to vlog when in reality I didn't. So, unfortunately Peyton and I will not be posting a YouTube video this week. I had around 2 minutes of footage and Peyton had none. This is putting Peyton and I a week behind now. There was also an extreme lack of communication between Peyton and I that I just now realized. This week is showing me the importance of communication and partnership. Communication: So this week Peyton and I are not posting a video. When Peyton and I first came to this conclusion, I was not very upset because we were still on track. We had done an extra video in the beginning so if we ever needed to skip a week we could. I went a looked at out channel and realized a video was missing, week 4. Peyton was supposed to edit week 4. Peyton told me she was going to be late posting this video, but when I went and looked this week it was never posted. I have talked to Peyton and she is going to post the video tomorrow it will just be late, but late is better than never. When this video goes up Peyton and I should be on track. To avoid problems like this Peyton and I have to communicate more. Partnership: Our YouTube channel is a partnership and Peyton and I have to work together to make this work. If one of us is trying to run the channel. It will never work. We both have to be invested into the channel. This week has taught us a lesson to show us that we should both be invested into the channel and try our hardest. Peyton and I are both going to try and bounce back and make our videos the best we can. Editing: With Thanksgiving coming up Peyton and I both should be able to get some good content and entertaining vlog footage. Both Peyton and I are going out of town. My family is driving down to Atlanta and on thanksgiving day we are going to Alabama. Peyton and I have communicated and she said it was fine and she doesn't mind editing during thanksgiving. This will give me a break and I will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving without the hassle of editing. Wrapping up the week: This week sure has been an eventful one. Both Peyton and I have learned valuable lessons to make out YouTube channel better and better. We are going to communicate more often to stay on track and work like a partnership. School is starting to become busy and I have many projects due in the upcoming weeks. I'm not quite sure yet, but I may be missing some school for thanksgiving. Since we have to drive so far to see my family and we only see them twice a year. We want to be able to spend as much time with them. With all this said, that's week 7!

Week Seven
This week was probably the worst week of this project. We didn’t vlog a single clip. We know that we messed up by doing this because we have nothing to upload for this week. This leads us to not have anything to write about in our blog posts. This is a major factor when it comes to blog posts because we basically have to evaluate our performance for the week. We didn’t purposefully not vlog, but we just were off schedule because we had a short week at school and it didn’t feel right. We understand that this is going to put us behind, but we just don’t like to be performing like this. Problems Not having any content for this week can majorly affect us for the data of the project. We are over halfway through this project and we are noticing that it is kind of going down hill. This is not the kind of performance that Riley and I expected to see. We have been working hard on editing and posting these videos and we feel like this is going to make it go down. This will have an impact on the weeks that we take turns editing so we are equal throughout the project. Roles With this project, Riley and I have taken turns every week to edit the videos. By doing this, we can get a better understanding of what it’s like to edit and run a youtube channel. We know that by editing for a certain week, this takes on responsibilities because we are learning how to work a job that most youtubers use as their hobbies. We have learned that with having this for our project, we have noticed that we have started to be more of ourselves for the videos we upload. In the beginning, we didn’t really show too much about our weeks and the way we live. Now that it’s later for this project, we have started to get comfortable with uploading videos that contain more of our lives. We understand that we were planning to make separate videos that are more like challenges and not vlogs, but our weeks and weekends have become more and more busy with other activities and work we have to do. We might be able to make a video or two that is not a vlog and more entertaining for our subscribers. This will be a way to increase our subscriber count and views we get. Week 6:
This week was a lot less stressful than prior weeks. Previous week I have been super busy and had tons of homework. This week was a break finally, so I got vlog during the weekdays some. We have a five day weekend, so I'm trying to enjoy that and not worry too much about vlogging. I vlogged four days this week which is a lot better than the previous weeks. It's reassuring to see progress in me being able to vlog more. This week showed me more than anything that me being busy is one of the biggest factors if I vlog or not. This week I had extra time and I also didn't feel pressured to vlog. I wanted to do it unlike the other weeks. Extra Time: I had lots of extra time this week to be able to vlog. This wasn't only a relief because I now had time to vlog, but I also received a break from all the school work. When I'm busy I don't want to vlog I literally have to force myself to do it. That takes the fun out of it and ruins vlogging for me. With having extra time it brings back the fun of vlogging and I actually enjoy doing it and it isn't forced. This week really showed me that I shouldn't take extra time for granted. Previous weeks I haven't had any extra time and now that I have had it, I really appreciate it. Quality: Referring back to the previous paragraph about extra time, with extra time the quality of the video had become better. Before this week I was constantly worried about the amount of clips that were going into the video and if there would be enough, and was totally throwing the thought of the quality of the videos out the window. Since I had extra time this week I got to focus on the quality of the clips I was taking. When I was doing something interesting or fun I would try to vlog it. In previous weeks I had been so stressed with school work whenever I was doing something interesting I just wanted to enjoy it. Which would affect the quality of the video. Conclusion: This week was a relaxing week and really was a break from all the stressful school work. Having more time and being able to relax is going to increase the quality and content of the video. There are more breaks coming up, so hopefully we can continue to make the videos better. With the breaks really makes remember why I wanted to start a YouTube channel, I don't feel forced to do it and I enjoy doing it. This week was a break from all the stress from the YouTube channel and showed me there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Week Six
This week was a short week for us at school. We had early release on Thursday and no school on Friday. I’m not sure why though! We also have Monday and Tuesday of next week off. Not much happened this week besides making our masks for English class. My group had Creon and we worked on this in a time period of three days. This was a fun project because we got to paint and design the masks. Then we got to present them to the class. This took away the ability to have our vocab quiz. This week’s vlog is scattered and isn’t full of content but it does have some clips that could be entertaining. Surprise! On Friday, my family and I drove to Hickory. We went to get my sister, Emerson, a car. This is her third car in the span of a year. My sister and I got in a car crash last year after school on the week of Halloween. This wasn’t anything too major. We had just gotten rear-ended, so nobody really got hurt, I just had a sore neck and back. That wreck totaled her car. This year, the same week as last year, my sister was leaving DCCC to go back to Davie County High School for her classes. She got T-boned, so this did some damage to her car and totaled it to where she couldn’t drive it anymore. This was a pretty big deal for her because my dad wanted her to have a safe car, and he found one that he liked. My sister was very excited so I vlogged a little bit of it. I also took videos of the interior because I know that I like to look at the interior of cars when watching videos. Upcoming It’s Sunday as I’m typing this and I have volleyball tryouts for club season at 2. I’m so nervous and I vlogged me talking about it, so I decided to write about it on this post. We have these tryouts three days this upcoming week. All of my friends are also going to tryouts so I will get to be with them. Everybody gets nervous when it comes to tryouts because it’s a big deal. My mom has already started decorating for Christmas because they will be in Atlanta this weekend and we are gone for Thanksgiving so this is the only time she has to decorate. This is fun for me because Christmas is my favorite holiday and that means my birthday is coming up. Week 5:
Week 5 has been a hard one for me. I feel like every week going on with this project the busier and busier I get. I can never catch a break with homework. With all my school work It has made it extremely to vlog this week. This week I have also struggled with procrastinating. I will say I will get to vlogging, but vlogging is a daily thing if we want a full video. The last thing I have struggled with is communication with Peyton. Peyton and I have had a lack of communication which is affecting the schedule for the videos. School Work: My school work/load this week was extremely heavy this week. There was not one week where I didn't have homework or a little amount of homework. A project in math really set me back. I handed my teacher a project and he said it was all wrong and I had to redo the whole thing over again in one day. Having to redo a whole project in one night is a lot of work and stress to have on you. My grades are also not as good as the usually are. I have my first B right now, which is a shock to me, but I'm working as hard as I can to bring it up to an A. So with all this vlogging isn't my first priority, but I need to find time for it. Procrastinating: Usually I'm not a procrastinator, but this week I have struggled with procrastinating. I will procrastinate with my school work and that will put me back leaving me no time to vlog. I have just had so much school work I want to come home and relax for an hour. There is just not enough time in the day for me to relax for an hour. I have to go straight to homework and hope after that I will have some time to vlog. I don't have to only hope that I will have to vlog and I also have to hope that I will have time to edit. I really underestimated having a YouTube channel and how time consuming it is. Communication: Having a YouTube channel with another person, you have to constantly communicate with that person to make sure y'all are on the same page. Peyton and I have both struggled with communication this week. Peyton had technical difficulties with last weeks video and has struggled to get it up. I need to make sure Peyton and I are on the same page that video needs to go up ASAP. Also for me to edit the video I need Peyton to send me her clips so I can edit them in. With the lack of communication we are having it will start to effect the videos, but communicating is an easy fix. Conclusion: They are many things I need to work on to improve the videos and our YouTube channel. If I fail to make these changes the videos will start to go downhill. I will always try my best and not give up. Making these changes aren't going to be easy, but they are possible. I learned this week that change might be hard but sometimes it’s necessary. Peyton and I will continue to try our best and make these changes. Fifth Week
This week Riley and I decided that we should be vlogging more. We made this the goal to get through for this week. Volleyball is now over for me, so I will be able to get home early and vlog after school. It was so hard for me when we had practice and games because I wouldn't get out of practice until 6 or 6:10. Getting out late reduced the amount of time that could be given to vlog. I would go home and get homework done, then I would go to bed. This week we had to take the PACT in the morning. This drained all of my energy. It's Wednesday and I would say, so far for this week, I have vlogged some everyday which provides us with content. Issues with Editing Last week it was my week to edit. There were some issues along with this. I was trying to upload the videos to my computer so I could edit with the software that I use. This was not working. The videos were not wanting to send to the computer and this made it so hard because we are working through this together. We had to communicate with each other on what we should do. We came to the conclusion of me having to edit it on my phone. With this being said, I've had to do it throughout the week. It is Wednesday and I am still getting used to the IMovie app. Now that this issue took place, last week's video will be uploaded later than normal. I know we can't help it that these technical difficulties take place but we found a way to work through it. Time Each week keeps getting more and more busy. Recently, I've been having so much homework in every one of my classes. This takes away the time needed for editing and filming videos. I would say that we have done a good job managing our time with and without the project. We have been able to focus on our school work while working on our project at the same time. If we keep working the way we are, then it will keep working well. We also need to take the time, after uploading, to advertise our videos. By doing this we can keep gaining views and subscribers. We would just need to post it on social media because that's an easy way to get people to look at it. Fourth Week
This week was by far the hardest week for me. I had a very hard time vlogging and getting myself motivated to video. I had a very small amount of content for this week. I can get through two or three days, but I can’t get motivated to video for the rest of the week. It’s very hard for me to vlog when I have so much going on. I have had volleyball almost every day, and it’s hard to vlog when we get out around 5:30 or 6. When I get home, I just do homework and go to bed so it’s not much to see. What We Have Noticed During the past couple of weeks that we have spent on this project, Riley and I have noticed a few positives and negatives. A negative is that Wednesdays are the most challenging days for us to vlog. This is the hardest day of the week and we don’t understand why because it’s a day just like each day in the week. A positive thing is that we have been able to edit and get the vlogs up on Sunday. This works well because it is still a schedule in which we are on time every week. This shows that we are not getting behind and we are working hard on completing this task. Things To Work On This upcoming week, I think Riley and I should start with vlogging every day. This includes content from each day, and we should try not to get off task. We will be able to have a complete and full video when we upload it next Sunday. Doing this will help to get used to vlogging every day so it becomes a routine. We have both taken turns when editing the videos, but I think something good to add to these is more effects or funny “behind the scenes” videos to make it more interesting. This will draw more attention to the views of our videos, causing us to get more subscribers. Week 4:
Hey guys! This week I had lots of homework like every week. That made it hard for me to make time to vlog because I don't want to vlog myself doing homework. That would be boring. Towards the end of the week Friday and Saturday I didn't really feel well. I went to the game on Friday to watch my boyfriend. I usually sit in the crazies, but I didn't because I didn't feel good. You don't want to vlog when you don't feel good so that set me back even more. I only vlogged a couple of times this week. Sickness: Like I said I didn't feel good on Friday and Saturday. This set me back a whole lot. Usually Peyton and I vlog some throughout the week and the weekend is when we vlog the most because we are less busy. I tried to get some clips those days but I looked terrible and sounded terrible. All my friends know I have a YouTube channel, so I don't really want all my friends seeing me sick and me looking disgusting. This is a new factor that has been brought in vlogging. When Peyton or I don't feel well or is sick and we don't want to vlog we shouldn't have to. Break: This week I had a break from editing the videos. It's Peyton's turn to edit the video. This has taken a lot of stress off of me. I didn't have to find time with my homework and everything else to try and edit the video. Unfortunately, next week I will have to edit the video. I have really enjoyed the break this week. I already felt overwhelmed this week without having to edit the video. Next week I will have an even busier week. I have a doctors appointment, the PreACT, homework, and projects due, so I am going to have to try and find time during all this to edit. Like I said last week this is teaching me time management. Challenge Video: So at the beginning of this project Peyton and I agreed on making a challenge video every other week. This has not happened Peyton has volleyball on Saturday's and I have been busy on Sunday's. I don't really think this is a huge problem though because Peyton and I have uploaded every week like we said we would. Before going into this project I don't think we realized how hard this would be to vlog every week and make a challenge video on top of that. So we are only going to do challenge videos if both Peyton and I have the time to do one together. Conclusion: This week has been and stressful and busy one for both me and Peyton. We are constantly trying to improve our videos every week. It can be very hard to do this with all of our other stuff. This upcoming week is going to be even more busy. Halloween is coming up this week so I hopefully I should be able to get some good clips of that. Next week I will definitely try to vlog more and put as much effort as I can into the video. I'll see you guys next week!! Week Three of Vlogging:
This week showed me that vlogging isn't going to get easier it's only going to harder. I struggled with multiple things this week such as vlogging, editing, and storage. YouTube/Vlogging isn't something you can just try to cram in. We have to do vlog everyday if we want a full video to post. So having to vlog everyday can be hard if you're busy. I was very busy this week and it was hard to find time to vlog. I came to realize that there are many factors that go into making just one video. Busy This week I was very busy. I had lots of tests and quizzes this week. Also something exciting but made my life a little more busy was getting my license. I missed my first period when I went to go get my license so that gave me makeup work and I missed a whole day of notes. So I had to spend time catching up on that while staying on top of my other classes. During all this I'm not thinking I should start videoing right now. I'm thinking I need to hurry up and get all this done. I'm learning that I have to make time for everything even vlogging. Editing I am editing the video this week, I was hoping by doing that I would become more motivated to pick up my phone and vlog. Unfortunately that was not the case being so busy, I didn't have extra time to start editing the video. So I am having to edit the whole video this weekend. I know I will be able to get it down but I wish I didn't have to do it all this weekend. Editing can be a time consuming process depending on how long the video is. This is another thing that is teaching me time management and too make time for everything. Storage Storage has become an issue with both Peyton and I. When I am trying to film a clip my phone will pop up with a notification that I have no more storage and it wont let me film anymore. So I have to go to import the videos to my computer than the delete the ones on my phone and then start retaking the clip. This isn't only super annoying but it's also time consuming. I have to wait for the videos to actually import and I have to do this for all of Peyton's clips too. So even before I want to start editing I have to get all the clips together and import them. Sometimes If I can't import the video right then I have to go on a separate app and try to save the video there. Not having storage isn't making vlogging impossible, it's just making it extremely difficult. Conclusion Overall this week has shown me time management. I'm glad I chose to do this project because time management is a good skill to acquire. Not only will this help me get my project done but it will help me with school work and many other things in life. There are so many things that are time consuming that go into vlogging. You can't do it all in one day because it will not be able to be finished in time. So I need to make a schedule for when I should do what to get the video done instead of cramming it. Third Week
This week we realized that we needed to start motivating ourselves more to get clips from vlogging. We have noticed that it's hard to vlog when our weeks are really busy. It's hard to get things done on top of making videos. This is a problem because we get to the end of the week where we need to edit and we notice that we don't have enough content and the vlog is shorter than the week before. What Happened This Week This week we had a 4 day week at school. It helped having a day off so I could get caught up on the amount of work I had. We had to go in to work on stuff for senior night. I had an orthodontist appointment that day and I was supposed to get my Invisalign off but he told me that we have to go a little bit longer. We found out that we didn't vlog any on Saturday because we had the PSAT which took up the whole morning. What's Working We are still working with the schedule that we have been doing. This has been working well because we are able to push ourselves with motivation to get a certain video up by a certain time. This week is Riley's week to edit the vlog. We have worked hard to get together to film a challenge sort of video, but we have both been really busy. I have had volleyball every Saturday. Riley has also been busy on a couple of Sundays. This makes it hard because our we had an idea to make a video every other weekend to upload that would consist of being a challenge type of video. Now that we had this idea, our subscribers are waiting for one of these videos but it's hard to make one with a busy schedule. |
